History of SEMCLT

We are proud of the fact our association has grown over the past several years. We've focused on providing a quality networking experience along with an education platform within our close knit community of Charlotte. Many wonder just exactly how SEMCLT started and we've outlined a few points of interest over the past several years.

May 2007 - Keith Schilling started a group on www.Meetup.com and named it the Charlotte SEO Meetup. At first, this was just a few local search engine marketing professionals meeting together in a small restaurant.

August 2007 - The first meetup as listed in Meetup.com was held at the Angry Ale's Neighborhood Bar & Grill. Four people attended, including Roy Morejon and Fred Sexton.

March 2008 - The first meetup was held at the Partners In Care Office, where they continued to be held. This event was a presentation on the On-Page Factors of SEO by Keith Schilling.

April 2008 - Our April meetup was scheduled at Partners in Care office but Fred Sexton and family decided to duck out and have a baby girl. We met at Panera Bread at the last minute and enjoyed great conversations. Over 15 attended while we were expecting only 7 or 8.

May 2008 - Over 25 attended as Corey Creed presented 10 Linking Ideas Every Site Owner can Use. The next month, over 30 attended the website reviews panel.

July 2008 - Over 30 attended at Raintree Country Club as guest speaker Andy Beal discussed Online Reputation Mangement.

January 2009 - Over 75 attended at Partners in Care as we interviewed a panel of local Charlotte Twitter experts.

February 2009 - Because we needed more space, Keith decided to create SEMCLT and begin charging a membership fee. About 50 members signed up the first month.

May 2009 - Keith secured a new location that could handle more attendees and include light refreshments. Over 45 attended our first meeting at The Ivey. It included a panel that discussed advanced ecommerce.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
